Punctuation Points

Age Range: 7 – 11

By: David Mitchell

David Mitchell has suggested a fantastic way of encouraging children to use punctuation in their writing. Different types of punctuation have a value attached to them. When children are assessing their own writing (or the writing of others), they count the total value of the punctuation that they have used. Read more about the idea and see lots of comments from other teachers on David's blog here.

He has kindly allowed me to create some resources based on his idea, all of which can be downloaded below. If you have any comments or suggestions about the 'Punctuation Points' activity, please leave a comment on David's blog post.
